Cephas Tillotson was born in Hastings County, Canada, Feb 23, 1832. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Boone County, Illinois and lived there until he grew to manhood. In 1856 he was united to Clementine Streeter, and from this union was born two children, one haveing died in infancy and the other in young manhood, and his wife also preceeded him to the other world. On June 4th 1908 after a brief illness of a couple of weeks, he passed away at his home near Cambridge aged seventy five years, three months and eleven days.

In the year 1867 he identified himself with the U.B. Church and became a loyal and liberal supporter of the same.

He leaves one brother, four sisters and a host of friends to mourn his loss.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. Hicks in the U.B. Church and his body was laid to rest in the cemetery near town.

His mother was Laura Bagley, who died shortly after his birth, raised by Sally Tillotson
