Florence G. Ewing Lamb, a resident of Walla Walla for the past 68 years, passed away December 14, 2015 at the age of 95. Florence was born on August 5, 1920 in Webster City, Iowa to Bernard & Elizabeth Williams Mills. She grew up & attended schools in the Midwest.

On February 8, 1939, she married Henry T. Ewing in Tabor, Iowa. The couple moved to the Pacific Northwest at the beginning of WWII where Henry worked in the shipyards. After the war, in 1947, they moved to Walla Walla.

Florence was a homemaker and actively involved with PTA, Blue Birds, Campfire, 4-H and church activities while their daughters were young. Florence was employed by the Walla Walla School District 140 for 27 years before retiring in 1982. She was awarded the Golden Acorn Award honoring people in education who make a difference. She was extremely proud of that honor for her outstanding work with the special physical needs classroom at Jefferson School.

Florence especially enjoyed her yard and gardening along with canning, sewing, reading & socializing with friends. She was an active member of the Blue Mountain Community Church and a past member of the Marcus Whitman Gem & Mineral Society, the Camera Club, the Homemaker’s Society, Grace United Methodist Church and Berney School PTA.

Florence remarried July 14, 1998 to Wm. Paul Lamb in Walla Walla.
