She is survived by her husband the Honorable Robert L. Vining, children Randy Parks, Vicki Parks Neno (Raymond Neno), and Philip Parks (Lynda Parks), grandchildren Miki Parks, Kimberly Parks, Hannah Parks, Drew Parks (Morgan Parks), Rachel Neno; great-grandchildren Zoe Parks and Avey Parks.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Willis (Bill) C. Parks, Jr., parents: Curtis Deems Sr. and Evie Deems; brothers: John Deems, Curtis Deems Jr., Renay Deems; and sister, Minnie Gordon.
Ivy was an energetic, hardworking woman. She was a very accomplished Interior Decorator. While she had great energy for decorating, her focus and passion was for her friends, her family, her church, and her relationship with Jesus Christ. Bill and Ivy were involved in the growth of Fellowship Bible Church, where Bill served as Chairman of the Elders for many years. Ivy taught children's Sunday school and mentored young women in the church. Later in life, Ivy became a member of Dalton First United Methodist Church where her husband Robert has taught a Sunday school class since 1964.
Services will be held at Dalton First United Methodist on Monday at 2 pm. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Atrium. Dr. Robin Lindsey, Senior Pastor of Dalton First United Methodist and Reverend Jim Burgess, Senior Pastor of Fellowship of Emirates in Dubai, UAE will officiate.
Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
