Toby, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home, while surrounded by his family on November 19, 2015.Toby was born August 11, 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Paul and Ada (Talbot) Abshire, loving step-mother, Bertha Abshire, and siblings: Agnes Arnold, Dorothy Palmer, Abbie Abshire and A.J. Abshire.Toby is survived by his wife: Betty Hebert Abshire of sixty-one years, children: Mary Collins, James Abshire, Kirwin Abshire and wife Darlene, Paula Rolin and husband Michael, Glen Abshire and wife Sherri, grandchildren: Cortland Collins, Evan Collins, Leah Wood, Matthew Wood, Jacalynn Rolin, Nathan Rolin, Jessica Abshire Dluhos and husband Chet, great-grandchildren: Emerson Kate Dluhos and Presley Marie Wood. Toby is also survived by brothers: Linwood Abshire and wife Joan, Louis Abshire and wife Jeanette, sister-in-laws: Margo Abshire, Jane Abshire, and numerous nieces and nephews.In 1956 Toby and family moved to Houston, Texas where he was employed by the Houston Chronicle and a member of the National Angle Bar Club for thirty-seven years. He served in the Texas National Guard, was a founding member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 3700 and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.Toby was an exceptional Gardener, respected Baseball Coach, avid Golfer and had a passion for working with his hands and building things. His gentle spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed by his entire family and friends.Visitation with the family will be Monday, November 23, 2015, 5:00 pm., Vigil at 6:00 pm., St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church: 10727 Hartsook Street, Houston, Texas 77034. A Mass celebrating his life will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 10:30 am., St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church: 10727 Hartsook Street, Houston, Texas 77034. Father Vincent Nguyen will be the Mass celebrant. Burial at 3:00 pm, Greenlawn Memorial Park 3900 Twin City Hwy. Groves, Texas 77619
