She attended school and was raised in the Des Moines area. On March 24, 1950 Barbara was united in marriage to Alva John Bailey in Leon, Iowa. The couple lived in Aurora, Colorado and few other locations while John was in the Air Force. They moved to Knoxville following his discharge. Barbara worked at the Knoxville Café for Bill Wolf and then at the County Care Facility for 2 years. From 1978 until her retirement in 1996, Barbara worked at Pella Corp.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed flower gardening and driving her Lincoln Continental. She was especially proud of her family and loved spending time with them.
Barbara passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics at the age of 82 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alva John and a brother, Robert McMains.
Those left to cherish Barbara's memory include her children: Steve Bailey (Hollie) of Waukee, Chris Bailey of Knoxville and Paula (Butch) Koons of Knoxville; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Claudia Leaming of Knoxville; half-brother, Gary McMains of Des Moines and many other family members and friends.
A Funeral Service for Barbara Bailey, age 82 of Knoxville, will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
