Janice was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Port
Byron, the eldest child to Hollis and
Anna Feaster Boardman. She started her
40-year teaching career in a one-room
school house in rural Port Byron and
also taught at grade schools and middle
schools in Milan, Hillsdale and Port
Byron. This also included teaching
to two of her three children.

She served her community as a 4H leader
and always was an active member in the
Port Byron First United Methodist
Church. The church was the center of
her life for many years, where she had
many roles from teacher, choir member,
baker, dishwasher and greeter to all.

She was well known for her delicious
apple pies and her love of travel,
playing games and having an active life.
She was active until the end, never
wanting to miss out on anything. But
above all, her love of family outshined
everything she did.

Anyone who knew Jan or just met her was
blessed by her smile, generosity and
forgiving nature.

She is survived by children, Ann L.
(Robert) Bloomer, and Stephen B.
Wainwright; grandchildren, David (Brenda)
DeWilfond, Lisa (Jay) Christopher,
Terry Christopher, April (Brent) Bowlyou
and Craig (Chelo) Wainwright;
12 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great grandchild. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Bard; son,
David B. Wainwright; sisters, Marian B.
Hamilton, Eunice Boardman; and brother,
Bill Boardman.
