Robert William Kriege age 83 of Elkton, SD and formally from Kimball, SD passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Select Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Robert was born May 31, 1923 in Witten Township, Tripp County, Witten, SD. The son of Adolf Kriege and Bertha Bartels Kriege.

Robert served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Washington. He married Leona Engel on February 13, 1946 in Winner, SD. They resided in Winner and the rural area. Robert worked for the Coop in Winner. They farmed at Kimball, SD. He also worked at the Conoco Station for many years.

He entered the Cozy Corner Assisted Living in Elkton, SD on September 17, 2000 to be closer to his niece Judy Vomacka.

Robert was a very quite man content with the simple things in life. Robert and Leona were happy with the little they had. Their home was always open to everyone, especially children, so many nieces and nephews stayed with them. He enjoyed a good baseball game on TV and playing a game of cards. He enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together. Judy always gave him a bad time accusing him of hiding the pieces. Wahoo was his marble game and he played almost every day. He is the Cozy Corner! Wahoo Champion. Bob could not breath without oxygen and yet he never complained. When asked if he was happy, his comment was " I never had it so good."

Robert is survived by his niece Judy (Ivan) Vomacka of Elkton, SD one sister Dorothy Ernest and one brother Lawrence and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Leona, his parents, father and mother in-law and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4th at 2:00 PM at Mason Funeral Home in Winner. Burial will be held in the Winner Cemetery.
