Funeral services will be held Monday at First Baptist Church, Clearfield, at 2 p.m. for Dorothy V. "Dutch" Cartwright, 91, formerly of South Fourth Street, Clearfield, and most recently of Clearfield Colonial Courtyard, who died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at the Courtyard.
The Rev. Mike Shingler, and her grandson, Pastor Sam Carns Jr. will officiate.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Friends will be received at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield, Sunday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of services.
Born Jan. 8, 1915, at Karthaus, she was a daughter of George B. and Lulu (Winkleman) Miller.
Mrs. Cartwright was a member of First Baptist Church for 64 years, where she served in various positions as a teacher for the primary department, deaconess and treasurer for the Sunday school.
She was partner/owner of Charles Bumbarger and Sons of Clearfield.
Mrs. Cartwright is survived by two children, Carol Carns and her husband, Sam, of Clearfield and John O. Bumbarger II and his wife, Sylvia, of Houtzdale; five grandchildren, Pastor Sam Carns Jr. of Warsaw, Ind., Matthew Carns of Upper Marlboro, Md., Ann Hoopsick of Colonial Heights, Va., and Paul Carns of Oseola, Ind.; 12 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Wescott of Verona; two nieces; and a cousin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John O. Bumbarger, whom she wed Sept. 28, 1935, and who died May 4, 1952; and her second husband, Ernest C. Cartwright, whom she wed Oct. 23, 1964, and who died May 1, 1995.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 111 N. Second St., Clearfield, Pa., 16830;l the American Cancer Society, 119 E. Market St., Clearfield, Pa., 16830; the American Heart Association, 505 Howard Ave., Clearfield, Pa., 16830; or Clearfield Health-Hospice, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, Pa., 16830.
