George B. "Rabbit" Miller, a 102-year-old former resident of South Fourth Street, Clearfield, and most recently a resident of Mountain Laurel Nursing Center, Clearfield, died at the center on Saturday, May 4, 1991.
He was a former telegraph operator with the New York Central Railroad, retiring after 52 years of service.
He was a member and the oldest past president of Elk Hose Co., Clearfield; was a former member of the Williamsport Masonic Lodge, former member of the Williamsport Consistory, former member of the Jaffa Shrine of Altoona and former member of the Clearfield Elks Lodge No. 540. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Clearfield.
He was born in Beech Creek, Aug. 28, 1888, a son of William and Emma (Solars) Miller.
He is survived by daughters: Mrs. E. C. (Dorothy) Cartwright, Clearfield, and Mrs. Ethel B. Westcott, Murraysville; and these grandchildren: Mrs. George (Sally) Sholder, Murraysville; Mrs. Joseph (Joyce) Martin, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Samuel (Carol) Carns, Clearfield, and John Bumbarger II, Houtzdale.
Eight great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, two nephews and three nieces also survive.
He was the last member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lulu (Winkleman) Miller, in 1974, one great-grandchild, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc., Clearfield. The Rev. Guy Glass will officiate and interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and until the hour of services on Tuesday.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
