Dies at 82;
Rites Set
Sweetwater - C. C. Boyd, 82, pioneer Nolan County settler, died Friday at 2:45 p.m. at Sadler Clinic in Merkel. He had been a patient there for the past two weeks.
Services will be held Sunday in Sweetwater's Fourth and Elm Church of Christ. Cate-Spencer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Hour of services will be announced.
Mr. Boyd was born in Cooke County in the Dexter Community on September 20, 1880 and came to Mulberry Canyon Community east of Sweetwater in a covered wagon as a child a few months old. He lived there in a log cabin during his childhood.
He had lived on his farm in Lake Sweetwater Community since 1905. He retired as a stock farmer in 1958.
He married Bertie Jane Scott on December 24, 1905, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Scott. She died in March, 1956.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. G. W. (Ellen) McReynolds of Merkel, Mrs. Moye Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. A. L. Trowbridge of Abilene; one son, Wayne Boyd of Sweetwater; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, J. C. Boyd of Petersburg, G.W. and Bill both of Sweetwater, John Boyd of Mertzon, and Joe Boyd of Ruidoso, N.M.; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Rasberry of Fort Worth, Mrs. May Brown of Prescott, Ariz. and Mrs. Irene Witt of Long Beach, Calif.
