Mrs. Agnes Atkinson Blitch, age 95, died in Athens, Georgia on June 19.
She was the wife of the late James Daniel Blitch, Jr. of Statesboro.
Born in Greene County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Davis Atkinson and Julia Amos Atkinson. She was graduated from Georgia Normal School in Athens and received her BA degree from Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro.
A long time resident of Statesboro, she taught fourth grade in the public schools of Bulloch County. She will be remembered for her love of children and family. Her son, Dan Blitch, said, ''She was a dedicated teacher and believed strongly that the primary need of every child in the classroom today is the love and sensitivity of a caring teacher.'' Mrs. Blitch was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Athens.
In addition to Dan Blitch and his wife Dorothy, of Athens, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Bill Kennedy of Orlando; grandchildren, Bill Kennedy, Jr., Ed Kennedy and Ann Kennedy Woodman, of Orlando, James Blitch, Bird Blitch and Elise Blitch Drake of Atlanta; and eight great-grandchildren.
The graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, June
22 at Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro with Rev. Grady Wigley of Athens officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hodges-Turner-Anderson Funeral Home.
