STATEBORO – James Daniel Blitch, Jr., 74, of Blitchton died Sunday at his residence after a long illness. The Bulloch County native was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and was honorable discharged from the U. S. Navy as a lieutenant. He was one of the early pioneers of radio and shortwave transmission. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Agnes A. Blitch of Blitchton; a daughter, Mrs. John William Kennedy of Orlando, Fla.; a son, James Daniel Blitch, III of winder; two sisters, Miss Lila Blitch of Statesboro and Mrs. Sam Donovan of Sandersville; two brothers, Fred and Henry Blitch, both of Statesboro; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Statesboro First Baptist church, with burial in Eastside Cemetery in Statesboro. Smith-Tillman Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge.
