Verna Louise Claussen was born on her father’s birthday, Oct. 7, 1934, on the family farm in rural Scott County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Leona (Schneckloth) Claussen. She was united in marriage to Harold F. Feldpausch on July 14, 1956, in St. Ann's Church. He preceded her in death Friday, April 13, 2007. Verna worked at the former Central Trust and Savings Bank in Eldridge, retiring after over 25 years of service.
Verna was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Guild. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary 639 of Eldridge for over 50 years. She was instrumental in starting the Avenue of Flags in Eldridge and the Veterans Memorial at Centennial Park in Eldridge. Verna was a great promoter of the United States flag and patriotism. Verna was also a member of the Brownlie Sod House 1229 Questers of Long Grove.
Verna found great joy in the searching and acquiring of antiques for her many collections. She also enjoyed going to her grandchildren’s events, and she had many great friends who she enjoyed having lunch with.
