Roscoe Cyrus Hyde is the son of Cyrus Lyens Hyde and Luvina G. (Sayers) Hyde. On December 12, 1897, he married Zilla Anna Honiter in Memphis, Scotland County, Missouri. They started their life together on a rented farm in Union Township and Zilla gave birth to their only child, Mary Luvina, in 1900. A year later, Roscoe died of pneumonia, leaving his widow and young daughter.

Note: His published obituary gives his date of death as March 30, 1901, but the family Bible with entries by his wife and daughter and his wife's obituary give the date as March 29, 1901.

Cyrus Roscoe Hyde died of pneumonia, superinduced by lagrippe, Saturday, March 30, 1901, at his home near Brock, after a short illness, aged 29 years, 9 months, and 22 days. Deceased was first taken with lagrippe, followed by other complications, which developed into pneumonia and despite the skill of the physician and careful nursing, the disease proved fatal. He was born and reared in that neighborhood, was well and favorably known and his death brought sadness to many hearts. December 12, 1897, he was married to Miss Zilla A. Honiter. One daughter, aged 1 year and 20 days, was born to them and survives with the mother and his four sisters to mourn his premature death. He was the only son and both father and mother precede him to the spirit land. In life and health he was popular, energetic and ambitious, and the future seemed full of hope and promise. His sterling integrity and worht eadeared him to all of his acquaintances and when he was cut down in the morning of life many friends were left to sorrow with the young wife and infant daughter. Funeral services were held at the Brock church Sunday afternoon, Rev. W.M. Sapp, of this city, officiating, after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery in the presence of a large concourse of sympathizing friends.
