Zilla Anna (Honiter) Hyde is the oldest daughter of Charles Addison and Mary Salina (Collins) Honiter. Most of her life was spent in the community of Brock in Union Township, Scotland County, Missouri. There she married Roscoe Cyrus Hyde, son of Cyrus Lyens and Luvina G. (Sayers) Hyde, on December 12, 1897. She gave birth to their daughter Mary Luvina in 1900 and only a year later, Cyrus died of pneumonia, leaving his young family behind. Zilla remained in the Brock community with her daughter and brother Parley Honiter on the family farm that eventually became known as Cedar Lane Farm. She was known for her beautiful garden and wonderful cooking and is remembered fondly by all those lucky enough to sit around her table for a meal.

Services for Mrs. Zilla Hyde Held Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Zilla Hyde were held Friday, November 2, at 2:30 p.m. at Brock with Rev. W. E. Craig officiating. Zilla Anna Honiter, the eldest daughter of Charles and Mary Honiter, was born April 15, 1879, at the farm home near Brock, where she spent most of her life and died October 31, 1956. She was married to Roscoe C. Hyde, December 12, 1897 and he preceded her in death March 29, 1901. One daughter was born to them, Mary McDaniel of Carthage, Illinois, one granddaughter, Mrs. Marie Thornburg and husband Murray and one grandson Roscoe McDaniel and wife Margaret of Carthage, Illinois and five grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Parlia Honiter, with whom she made her home and two nieces. Bodybearers were: Buford Bull, Chan Bull, Roy Southmayd, Paul Rice, Jim Hall and Vic Patton. Burial was in the Brock Cemetery.
