Obituary of Herschel Albert Hardway

Herschel Albert Hardway, age 80, Martinsville resident, passed away
Friday, December 17, at Glen-denning Shelter Home, Martinsville. He
had been a patient there for several weeks.
Mr. Hardway was born March 6, 1885 at Martinsville, son of Joseph and
Ida (Leatherman) Hardway. He was married Dec. 25, 1906 to Cora
Boyer, who preceded him in death Feb. 12, 1964.
Surviving are four sons, Kenneth of Lawrenceville, Maurice of
Marshall, Theodore of New York City, Don of Detroit; one daughter,
Mrs. Agatha Holsapple of Greenup; one brother, William of Charleston;
also, 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
Services were held Sunday at the Shilo Church with Rev. Herman
Pendleton officiating assisted by Rev. H. J. Kemp. Burial was in
Wesley Chapel cemetery.

Gravesite Details
Herschel was first married to Jessie Pearl Murphy on August 16, 1903. She died soon after their marriage and he married Cora on December 25, 1906. Herschel died at the Glendenning Nursing Home in Martinsville not two years after Cora's death.
