John Thomas Merritt was the son of John William and
Zella Mae (Boler) Merritt, and the husband of
Grace Alma (McCloud) Merritt.
John Thomas was a World War II Veteran.
He drove a school bus for many years, in the Reelsville,
Indiana area.
Gracie and John had no children.

John Thomas Merritt, 89, Pittsboro, died March 19, 2003. He was born Jan. 6, 1914 in Pittsboro to William and Mae Boler Merritt who preceded him in death. He was PFC in the Army during World War II. Mr. Merritt was a farmer and school bus driver for Reelsville and South Putnam Schools. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sat. March 22 in David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro, with visitation from 12:00 p.m. Shelby Smith is the officiating minister. Burial will be in K of P Cemetery, Lizton. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace Alma McCloud Merritt and brother Walter Merritt. Survivors brother Lloyd Merritt, Indianapolis; sisters Margaret Spoon and Louzina Spoon, Pittsboro; niece and husband Joan and Charles Waters, Pittsboro.
