Bruce was born on Feb. 2, 1919, in Summit Lake, Langlade County, Wis., the son of Peter H. and Mae M. (Taylor) Rasmussen. He was married to June I. (Berent) Rasmussen on March 26, 1949.

Bruce attended Elcho High School 1932-1936, graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1942 and graduated from Law School at the University of Wisconsin in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army as a volunteer from February 1942 to April 1946, first with the 24th, then with K Co., 38th Infantry 96th Division. He was stationed in Solomon Islands (Guadal Canal) May 1943-1944, Marianas Islands and Saipan 1944-1945, Okinawa 1945, 1st Lt. Activated Co. E, 128th Infantry, 32nd Division, Wisconsin National Guard in 1947 and served four years as company commander, captain. He was awarded the Bronze Star (V), Purple Heart, and the combat infantry badge.

Bruce was elected and served two years as Beaver Dam City Attorney 1948-1950, elected two terms as Dodge County District Attorney 1955 through 1958, served as city attorney for Fox Lake and village attorney for Reeseville for several years, commenced law practice in the city of Beaver Dam, September 1947, as active trial and general practice attorney. His son, Scott B. Rasmussen became associated in practice in 1982.

Bruce was active in Veterans of Foreign War, Beaver Dam American Legion Post 146, Republican Party, Trinity Church United Methodist, Past Master, Dodge County Lodge 72, F&AM, a member of Zor Shriners, Madison Scottish Rite and the Royal Arch Masons.

Survivors include his wife, June I. (Berent) Rasmussen, Beaver Dam; his children, Attorney Scott B. (Melanie) Rasmussen, Beaver Dam, Crystal L. (fiance Bill), Madison, Lisa M. (Mark) Rasmussen-Middy, Redding, Calif., and Laurie A. (Jose Luis) Rasmussen-Duran, Madison; three grandchildren, Michael C. Rasmussen, Jeremy Zumm and Nicholas Zumm; one brother, Peter H. Rasmussen, Summit Lake; one sister, Alice F. (Gordon) Schulze, Bonduel; three sisters-in-law, Irene Rasmussen, Wausau, Marge Rasmussen, Waverly, Iowa, and Beverly Rasmussen, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mae Rasmussen; four brothers, Donald P. Rasmussen, Wallace E. Rasmussen, Paul J. Rasmussen and Frederick Rasmussen, and one sister, Edith M. Pichotta.
