Edith Mae Pichotta, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 14, 2006, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Antigo to Peter and Mae (nee Taylor) Rasmussen on May 3, 1913, and was the eldest of eight children.

Edith graduated from Antigo High School in 1930 and from Northland College in Ashland in 1935. Before her marriage to Francis J. Pichotta, she taught English at Elcho High School; after raising four sons, she returned to teaching, this time at Pewaukee Middle School, from which she retired in 1985. Edith lived in Waukesha most of her adult life; for the past two years, she resided at Applewood Senior Care in New Berlin, where she enjoyed playing bingo and watching the birds outside her window.

Edith is survived by her sons, George (Susan) Pichotta of Janesville, Donald (Kathleen) Pichotta of Wauwatosa and Stephen (Beverly) Pichotta of Waukesha; grandchildren, Peter, Joseph, Heidi, Andrew, Jill, James, Laura, Donald Jr., Ashley, Jaclyn and Michael Pichotta; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Delaney, Ryan, Tessa and Tay Pichotta. Edith is further survived by her brothers, Bruce (June) Rasmussen of Beaver Dam and Peter Rasmussen of Summit Lake; her sister, Alice (Gordon) Shulze of Bonduel; her sister-in-law, Mary Pichotta of Northrich, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis, and son, John, both in 1991; her grandson, Daniel; and brothers, Donald, Frederick, Paul and Wally Rasmussen.

It was Edithユs wish that funeral services be private and limited to her immediate family.
