The death of Mr. Harriet E. Baum, the venerable mother of Dr. Z.T. Baum, occured at her home, 119 East Washington Street, at two o'clock pm today, at the advanced age of nearly ninety-three years. "Mother" Baum, as she was universally known, was born in Ross County, Ohio, Nov 5th 1814 her exact age being 92 years, 8 months and 5 days. At the age of 14 she removed with her father to Clark County, IN, where she was subsequently married to Henry Baum, his death occuring there in 1855. Mrs. Baum has been a resident of Paris for the past thirty-five years and was widely known and loved. She was a member of the M.E. Church and her life was in keeping with the faith she professed.
She is survived by two sons and four daughters as follows: Mrs. Mary McBeth of Evanston, IL; Mrs. Rachell Cornell of Logansport, IN; Mrs. Belle Stigers of Osceola, Iowa; A.P. Baum of Newport News, VA.; Mrs. Mattie McCarty and Dr. Z.T. Baum of Paris; also a sister Mrs. H. Martin of Covington, IN., who is eighty-one years of age. All of the foregoing with the exception A.P. Baum are in the city, having been called here by the expected demise of Mrs. Baum. There are fourteen surviving grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren.
No arrangements for the funeral have been made as yet, aside from the fact that the remains will be taken back to the old home at Delphi, IN., for interment beside the husband of the deceased in what is known as the Baum Cemetery. The burial will probably occur on Friday.
