Horace Edwin Layton, 75, died at 11 am Sunday at home, 636 Liberty St., after an illness of two years. He was born in Greensburg, IN, June 19, 1869.

He lived in Franklin 22 years. He was an accountant for the Galena-Signal Oil company, and retired four years ago. He then worked for the Miller estate for several years until his failing health made him retire. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church.

In 1894 he married Miss Luella Sharp, who survives, with a brother, W. T. Layton of Dayton, OH, and a sister, Mrs. Ida McCullough of Westport, IN.

Services will be at his home with Rev. Benjamin Bunn Royer of First Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be in Franklin cemetery.
