Mrs. Luella Sharp Hugus, died at her home, Franklin Star Route, at 12:50 pm Tuesday, following an illness of two weeks. She was apparently recovering from her illness when her condition suddenly became critical yesterday morning and she died a few hours later. She was born in DeGraff, OH, and moved to Franklin from Cincinnati, OH, in 1910.
She was twice married. Her first husband, Horace E. Layton, died in 1931 (should be 1934). In 1937 she married George S. Hugus, who died in 1940.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, the American Legion auxiliary, past president of the Ladies' auxiliary of the Charles P. Barnes Camp, United Spanish American War Veterans, a charter member of the Woman's Club and a member of the Franklin Business Women's Club.
Surviving are a brother, J. D. Sharp of Cleveland, OH, and two step-children, Mrs. Wayne Elder and George H. Hugus of Franklin.
Services will be at the home of her step-daughter, Mrs. Wayne Elder of 636 Liberty St. conducted by Rev. William H. Orr, pastor if the First Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery.
