RITES AT WESTPORT FOR MRS IDA B McCULLOUGH
Mrs Ida B McCullough, 82, a widely known Sandcreek township woman, passed away at her home in Westport at 4 a.m. today.
She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Peas Layton and was born in Marion township on January 3, 1865. During her girlhood she moved with her parents to a farm 1-1/2 miles south of Westport, where she spent her early life.
After attending the Sandcreek township schools, she later taught for a term at the Rock Creek school. On May 3, 1888, she was united in marriage to James Harvey McCullough. The couple established a home at the south edge of Westport, where she had since resided. Her husband preceded her in death on December 7, 1924. Mrs McCullough had been a member of the Westport Baptist church for the past 73 years.
The survivors are: Six sons, Simon McCullough, of near Westport, Kenneth McCullough, of Burns, Ore, Harry McCullough, Rolland McCullough, Stanley McCullough and Jasper McCullough, of Westport; and one daughter, Miss Mary McCullough, teacher in the Westport schools, living at home. A daughter, Amy McCullough died at the age of six years. She also leaves a brother, William T Layton, of Dayton, O, 25 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Westport Baptist church. The Rev R E Pavy will officiate, assisted by the Rev Edwin T Respess. Burial will be made in the Westport Hostetler funeral home in Westport, where firends may call after the noon hour on Thursday.
