Obituary:

IVAN W. STEWART

MATTOON – The funeral for Ivan W. Stewart will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Schilling's Funeral Home with the Rev. John Nevius officiating.  Burial will be in Toledo Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Stewart, 52, of 3001 Moultrie, died at 1:55 p.m. Sunday (March 2, 1980) in Burnham City Hospital, Champaign.

He was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Cumberland County, a son of John Wesley and Elizabeth Cornwell Stewart.

Surviving are two sons, George of Terre Haute and John Wesley, at home; five daughters, Kathleen Elizabeth and Mrs. William (Mary Lou) Anderson, both of Mattoon; Sarah Ann, at home; Mrs. Steven (Linda Kay) Shoots of Salem; and Mrs. Daniel (Rebecca Sue) Bright of Turo Air Force Base, Mass.; five brothers, Walter of Royal, Ernest of Indianapolis, Daniel of Mattoon, Marion of Toledo and Donald of Effingham; five sisters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Bessie) Sparks of Booneville, Ind., Mrs. David (Dovie) Taylor, Mrs. H. J. (Anna Mae) Stewart and Mrs. William (Cecel) Cooper, all of Charleston, Mary Stuarts of Mattoon; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one stepgrandson and one stepson.

Mr. Stewart was employed as a foreman and machinist at General Steel for 10 years.  He was a member of the Toledo Christian Church; Toledo American Legion; and the Mattoon Eagles Club and Moose Lodge.  He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
