Garden City -- Margaret Braun Leiker, 97, died Dec. 2, 2000, at Terrace Gardens Care Center. She was born Sept. 17, 1903, at Victoria, the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine Riedel Braun.

She attended Victoria schools. A Garden City resident since 1934, she was a homemaker. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City.

On June 3, 1924, she married Adolph Leiker at Collyer. He died July 2, 1971.

Survivors include: three sons, Otto, Denver, James, Kings Mountain, N.C., and Arthur "Art", Garden City; a daughter, Esther Smith, Garden City; two brothers, Herbert Braun, Garden City, and Lawrence Braun, Oregon; two sisters, Pauline Smith, Mexico, N.Y., and Cecelia Adamson, Grand Junction, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City, with Father James E. Baker presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City. Memorials may be sent to the church in care of the funeral home.
