Services for Roxie D. Gilbert, 65, 248 Eddy St., formerly of Glenford, will be 10:30 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Criss Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Frasure officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Glenford. Mrs. Gilbert died Sunday morning in her home. She was born Oct. 11, 1916, in Cold Creek, Tenn., to the late George York and Stella Wallace York. She was a 5-year resident.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard F. Gilbert; 5 sons: Sherman Boothe of Columbus, Sherrill Boothe and Sherwood Boothe, both of Knoxville, Tenn., Sheridan Boothe of Baltimore, Md. and Shane Gilbert of Detroit, Mich.; 5 daughters: Shelby Hamilton and Sherri Gilbert, both of Newark, Sheila Hash of Detroit, Mich., Shirley Russell of Knoxville, Tenn. and Sylvia Bryan of Jacksonville, Fla.; 8 sisters: Mrs. Josephine Lawson of Glenford, Mrs. Maggie McMillan of Fancy Gap, Va., Mrs. Vida Peterson of Hillsville, Va., and Mrs. Jeanette Heath, Mrs. Violet Brewster, Mrs. Shirley Blevins, Mrs. Barbara Chapman and Mrs. Geraldine Mabe, all of Pinnacle, N.C.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.
