Gloria D. Berrett Hegsted left this life the way she entered it – on a beautiful September morning. She passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at her home at Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls under the care of her family, One Source Hospice and the attentive staff of Lincoln Court.

Gloria was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Murray, Utah, at Cottonwood Hospital, the youngest child of Frank Hookway Berrett and Alice D. Cole Berrett. She was raised as a member of a family of 10 children "down Berrett Lane" in Union (Midvale), Utah. Gloria graduated from Jordan High School. Following high school, she attended Brigham Young University. She met a young man from Idaho at BYU by the name of Victor Orville Hegsted, Jr.

Gloria and Victor were married June 12, 1951, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they raised five children: Barry, Tad, Debbie, Teresa and Derek. They fought through life's challenges of getting an education, health issues, financial setbacks and triumphs. In 1969, they began a company they named Challenger Pallet & Supply. They worked together in the business, and Gloria continued growing the business with her son and son-in-law after Victor's death in 1982. It was a source of accomplishment and satisfaction to grow that business and to see that growth continue after her retirement to bless future generations of her family.

Gloria was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was valiant in her testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ. She held many callings and especially enjoyed music and teaching. Whether you knew her as Mom, G.G., Glory or Globug, she was always eager to share her latest political opinion, religious insight, instigate conversation about recent news or share a joke. She was inquisitive and loved to laugh.

Gloria is survived by her children, R. Tad (Paula) Hegsted of Grant, Idaho, Debbie (Kelly) Bennion of Rigby, Teresa (Scott) Barnes of Menan and Derek (Jolynn) Hegsted of Orem, Utah; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Janice Mosher of Holladay, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; her son, Barry; eight of her siblings; and a great-grandson, Kaison Fisher.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Coltrin Mortuary and one hour prior to Saturday's services. Interment will be at Grant Cemetery.
