Ninety-seven years and 275 days old, Elaine Berrett Kramer, of Milcreek Township, Utah, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on December 31, 2013. Elaine was dedicated to her church, her family, and her friends, and to enjoying an active, positive lifestyle.

She was born March 31, 1916 in Fort Union, Utah to Frank and Alice Cole Berrett, and helped work the family farm along with nine siblings.

A licensed hospital and private nurse in her earlier days, she loved looking after her patients and making sure they received the best care available, often "gently questioning" the doctors' diagnoses and prescribed treatment.
Staying active and spunky kept her forever young.

She attended tai chi classes right up to the end, and encouraged her many friends at Sunrise Senior Living to "exercise and keep moving….makes it harder for the buzzards to land." She was a proud, loving, giving person with integrity, personal responsibility and hard work as her guiding principles. And knowing when and how to laugh at a good joke helped temper her serious nature.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; her son, Richard (Dickie); and daughter, Maxine (Minnie). She is survived by her children, Steve (Victoria), Marjean, and Greg; her grandchildren, Kelly Stephenson (Brent), Gentry Kramer (Rebekah), and Rick Miller (Trish); eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janice Mosher and Gloria Hegsted.

A celebration of Elaine's life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Holladay LDS Chapel, 4568 South Holladay Boulevard, Holladay, Utah.
