"Beach" Gaskill, son of William and Elizabeth Rippey Gaskill, was born January 29th, 1841 in Clinton Co, IN. He served in the Civil War, a Union soldier of Co K, 72nd Indiana Infantry. He took the smallpox disease from his cousin Joseph Holliday and was taken to the county home where he grew worse and died. His death was greatly mourned, as he had been a gallant soldier and a generally beloved and greatly respected young man, living at the time on the farm of his uncle, James Gaskill.
