Daniel was the eldest of five siblings. When their mother, Eliza Doyle Dunn, died in 1886, Daniel was only 10 years old and his youngest sister, Elizabeth (my grandmother) was only 2 years old. Their father, William, died four years later in 1890. Daniel was only 14 and Elizabeth only six. It is unknown who took care of the Dunn brood between 1890 and 1900, but in the 1900 Federal Census for Boston, MA all the siblings were living together under the tutelage of eldest brother Daniel.

Daniel married Mary L Silva on 23 July 1901 in Boston. At the time, Daniel was a teamster. They were the parents of 3 children: Flora C., Lawrence Daniel, and Paul Dunn. Mary died in 1908 of pneumonia, and she was buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Roslindale, MA. Five years later, Daniel married Mary Florence Borges on 2 Feb 1913 in Boston. They were the parents of at least nine children: Mary Louise, Helen Dolores, Daniel W. (d.y), Robert Leonard (twin)., Ruth Marie (twin), Daniel Webster Jr., John Anthony, Clare Elaine, and William George Dunn.

There has been some discussion among family about whether Daniel's middle name was William or Webster. The source of his middle name being Webster is his WWI Draft Registration card. His name on that official document was Daniel Webster Dunn. Registration date: 12 Sep 1918. DOB: 10 April 1876.

Funeral Services Held at St. Peter’s, Dorchester
The funeral of Daniel W. Dunn, president and treasurer of the D.W. Dunn Company, local and long distance movers, packers, shipper and warehouse man, was held yesterday morning with services at St. Peter’s Church, Meeting House Hill, Dorchester. The funeral cortege left the family home at 16 Trull St., where Mr. Dunn died Sunday, to the church, where a solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated in the presence of a gathering of friends, relatives and business associates. Rev. John A Coughlin was celebrant with two assistants. Inside the alter rail were another seven clergy from various churches in the greater Boston area.

Among the assemblage in the church were representatives of Boston Lodge of Elks, Dorchester Council, K. of C., and the Furniture Movers’ Association. There were eight pallbearers. Mr. Dunn is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary F. (sic) Borges Dunn, and 10 sons and daughters as follows: Miss Flora C. Dunn, Miss Mary L. Dunn, Miss Helen D. Dunn, Miss Ruth Dunn, Miss Claire Dunn, Lawrence E. Dunn of Norfolk, Robert Dunn, Daniel Dunn, John Dunn and William Dunn; one brother, Michael J. Dunn of Dorchester, and two sisters, Mrs James J.
