GRANBY - John A. Dunn, 85, died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center with family by his side. Born in Melrose, MA on November 18, 1922 he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (Borges) Dunn. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. He relocated to this area after the marriage to his beloved of 36 years, Alice Fenton Flynn who predeceased him in 1993. He was a science teacher for 39 yeas and last worked for the Easthampton School System, retiring in 1979. Jack as he was known to family and friends, was a private person. He was an avid reader, thought of himself as a poet and a great story teller who truly loved nature. He was most recently quoted as saying, "he celebrated every day in the lives of his nieces and nephews". He will be sadly missed by his sister, Clare Dunn and her husband David of West Roxbury, along with his many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews locally and in the Boston area. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Mary McCarthy, Helen Driscoll, and Ruth True and brothers, Robert, Daniel and William. His step siblings Flora Dunn, Lawrence and Paul Dunn also predeceased him. The funeral Mass will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Saturday, November 17 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in West Cemetery.
