Kate Florence Day was born in Aledo, Illinois, May 5, 1862. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Day, of this city, who still survive her, and was the third child of a family of eight children, three brothers still surviving.

She was united in marriage to Mr. Arthur Cabeen, December 24, 1884. To this union were born five children, Jennie Leone, who died in infancy; Bessie Emily, aged 13 years; Aaron Thomas, aged 12; Paul Hamilton, aged 10; and Boyd Porter, aged 7. Her husband, four children, the aged father and mother, and the three brothers are left to mourn her untimely death.

She united with the Baptist church, under the pastorate of Rev. Van Odell. Removing to the country, she attended the U. B. church at Seaton. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church in this city, Saturday afternoon, November 30, 1901, at 2 o'clock, Rev. C. W. Palmer officiating. His text was "Death is swallowed up in victory," 1 Cor. 15:54. The remains were laid to rest in the Aledo cemetery.
