Helen M. Parkhill, 92, of Oblong, IL passed away at 4:16 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. Born on May 30, 1923 in Greenbriar, IL, she was a daughter of James Lewis Woods and Dorthea E. York. On April 25, 1942 she married Alrex Eugene Parkhill and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1993.

Helen worked at L. S. Heath and Sons as a candy maker, she mowed 8 cemeteries, was a dishwasher at Jake’s and a homemaker. She was a member at Prior Grove Church, rural Oblong where she was a Sunday school teacher. Helen was a Sunday school teacher and also worked in the nursery at the Free Methodist Church in Robinson,. She enjoyed sewing, listening to books and the Bible on taps, her grandchildren, singing and play guitars, cracking nuts and her flower gardens.

Survivors include her son and companion Rex Parkhill and Melva Vogle, of Oblong, IL; two daughters and sons-in-law Jackie and Wayne Waggoner and Roanna and Harold Wartsbaugh, all of Oblong, IL; eight grandchildren Tracy (Parkhill) and Tom Decker of San Bernardino, CA; Teresa Johnson of California; Sheri (Waggoner) and Robert Alexander of Hunt City, IL; Waynette (Waggoner) and Jimmy Rogers of Oblong, IL; J. D. and Cathie Hightshoe of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada; Cheryl (Wartsbaugh) Hayden of Palestine, IL; Christy (Wartsbaugh) and Cliff Scott of Sarasota, FL; and Cory and Erin Wartsbaugh of Oblong, IL; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law Louise Waggoner of Indianapolis, IN; Charlenes Boelt of Munster, IN; and Billie and Bill Cox, Sr. of Oblong, IL; and a sister-in-law Priscilla Woods.

Preceding Helen in death were her parents; her husband Alrex Parkhill; step great grandson; 4 brothers, George, Roy, Grant, and Jimmy Woods, Jr.; 2 granddaughters, Paula Decker and Linda Ledford.
