Mr. Hood was born June 6, 1920, in Akron, Ohio, and was a resident of Placerville.
He was involved in the auto industry for over 50 years in both Ohio and California. His experiences included bringing new cars from Detroit to his dealership in Ohio, restoring antique cars, being a mechanic and auto body paint and repair craftsman. In the most recent years, he was known for locating Chevrolet parts, both common and rare.
He was involved in local church organizations.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Mildred Hood; sons Bob Hood of Akron, Donald Hood of Eugene, Ore., Leon Hood of Placerville, Gary Hood of Placerville and Jim Hood of Placerville, brother Carl Hood of Akron; sisters Edwina Stevens of Placerville and Alma Robinson of Akron; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Green Valley Mortuary Chapel. Services will follow at 11:15 a.m. Interment will be at the Green Valley Cemetery."
