Mary & John had 9 children. They were:

Sadly, Mary Elizabeth died as a result of complications when her son James Bernard was born on 8 Oct 1881. Seven days after James' birth Mary died leaving John with 7 children to raise.
(Tragically years later James' wife would suddenly die leaving him with 5 children all 9 & under.)
