Gerrit Roetman, son of Albert and Clara (Van Dyke) Roetman, was born in Holland on June 12, 1904. In 1910, Gerrit came to the United States and made his home in the George, Iowa community. He spent his youth in George and attended school there. In 1944 he moved to Sanborn, Iowa.

On May 17, 1945 he was united in marriage to Henrietta Korthals of Sheldon, Iowa, at Sioux City, Iowa. They spent their entire married life in Sanborn where Gerrit was employed by Getting Implement for over 20 years. He passed away at his home on April 1, 1984 at the age of 79 years, nine months and 19 days.

He is survived by bis wife, Henrietta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. He was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church of Sanborn where funeral services were held April 4. The Rev. Paul Hansen officiated. Casket bearers were Herman Buren, Ed Boone, Irvin Brinkert, Martin Kroese, Morris Van Meeteren and Francis Moore.

Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the flag presentation by Earl T. Conaway Post #318, American Legion, Sanborn. The Sanborn Funeral Home was in charge.
