William K. Burdett 81, of 530 Osceola, died Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at his home following an illness of several months.

He had been an employee of John Morrell and Co. for 33 years prior to his retirement in 1954.

He was born Sept. 16, 1889 in Davis County; the son of William S, and Margaret A. Howk Burdett and had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 50 years.

He was an Army over seas veteran of World War 1. He entered the service June 25, 1918 at Bloomfield and was discharged June 11, 1919 at Camp Dodge.

He was married to Hazel Renirew on Oct. 28, 1930 in Ottumwa. She survives.

Also surviving are one brother Ed Durdett of Ottumwa; one sister Mrs. Lorraine Oiler of Ottumwa, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Palmer of First Pentecostal Assembly of God officiating.

Burial will be in Shaul cemetery where military services will be in charge of the local American Legion Post.

Pallbearers will be Ray and Wayne Renfrew, Ralph Overturf and David and Harold Burdett.
