Mrs. Belva Spurgeon

Belva Spurgeon, 85, of Michigan City, Ind., a former Davis County resident, died Sunday at 4 a.m. at her home.

She was born in Davis County on Sept. 21, 1884, the daughter of William and Margarete Howk Burdette.

She had been a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Millard of Michigan City, Ind. and Mrs. Betty Jean Wormley of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Burdette of Ottumwa and Edward Burdette of near Bloomfield; and one sister, Mrs. Lorraine Oiler of Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

The body has been returned to the Johnson Funeral chapel where funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. John Walker officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
