Ethel was listed twice in the 1900 census. Her mother died when she was a few months old. Her aunt Maggie Rariden Timberman listed Ethel as her adopted daughter and Ethel's father listed her as living with him. As soon as he could, her father brought her back home. He never intended to giver her up.
She married James Franklin 'Frank' Carpenter on 16 Jan 1915 in Franklin County, Indiana. Frank was killed in a train wreck shortly before her youngest daughter was born
She died 1 OCT 1969 in Shelby County, Indiana of a heart attack.
