William Mitchell, son of Abial Mitchell, Jr. and Sarah Lingham, was born in Chittenden, Rutland County, Vermont January 13, 1809. He married Cynthia F Morgan, of Bethel, December 4, 1828, and resided in Chittenden most of the time till 1848, when he removed to Pittsford and located on the farm which had been, for some time, the residence of his father, who died in September of that year. Mr. Mitchell enlarged the place by additional purchases, and all the buildings on it have been constructed by him.
