Death of William H Markwell
Wm H Markwell died at the residence of his son Tillie, near Moweaqua, lad Thursday, Dec 22, at 11 pm. The funeral was held Saturday, and the remains were taken to Grove City for burial. Deceased was one of the oldest citizens in this part of the state, which has been his home for over sixty years. He was a native of Kentucky. At the time of his death he was eighty-six years of age. He has been remarkably vigorous for a man of his years. and was confined to his bed only three days before his death.

Wm H Markwell, formerly from Kentucky, died at his home north of the city, Dec. 22, in the 86th year of his age. He had been a resident of Illinois for 60 years. He was sick but three days, and died of old age. The funeral took place at Grove City, Saturday. Five sons and a daughter survive him.

Headstone badly weathered, rubbing did reveal Markwell inscribed like an arch near top of stone note deep erosion of stone near the pedestal.
