Sherman Lavell Draper was the youngest son of Riley Newton Draper and Lena Margretta Morley.

Sherman L [Lavell] Draper, a retired department head for the Small Business Administration, died yesterday (January 23, 1975) after a long illness.

Draper, 80, of 663 Peach Street, Novato, had been a federal employee for 25 years and retired in 1964 from the Small Business Administration office in Los Angeles.

He was a graduate of the University of Utah.

He served in the Army during World War I and was in the stock and bond business in Utah before going to work for the federal government.

Draper was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Novato ward, and had been a resident of Novato since 1965. He was a native of Utah.

Surviving are his wife Lucylle [Christensen], of Novato; three daughters, Jacqueline Estes of Novato, Barbara Jean Reynolds of Greenbrae, and Sandra Welch of New York; a son, Sherman Duane Draper of Oregon, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Novato. Burial will be at the Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.
