James Breland DUMAS -- Funeral services for James Breland, 79, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Garrett, nephew, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, and the Rev. O.D. Bevill, a brother-in-law. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Mr. Breland died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, in Dumas. He was born July 24, 1926, in Seymour and graduated from Olton High School in 1941, the same year his father, Henry Gregg Breland, died. Thereafter, James cared for a younger sister, Anna Sue, and brother, Bernard. He was in the armed services from 1944-46 and served in Japan. He married Edith Bevill on Oct. 27, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. In 1952 he began farming in Tulia. He also farmed in Claytonville for 15 years. In 1967, he moved to Gruver where he continued to farm. In 1989, he moved to Dumas and retired. He was a member of Tulia Lodge No. 733, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, VFW Post 9022 of Dumas, a lifetime member of American Legion Post 922 of Dumas, First Baptist Church of Dumas and the Men's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Gregg Breland and wife Debbie and Paul Breland, all of Dumas; a brother, Bernard Breland of Paris, Texas; and five grandchildren, Breanna, Zach, Trent, Dustin and Jacob. A sister, Sue Arnold, is deceased.
