Rachel Dickson is my great great grandmother.
We have seen Rachel's maiden name spelled many different ways.

Rachel Dickson last name may be spelled Drakson. This information was received from the Schneider family bible. The writing in the bible was hard to make out.

PLEASE NOTE:

We have never identified parents for Rachel Dickson nor any record that is conclusive to her parentage.

Many researchers (Jim Highfill, Carole Conrad, etc.) have connected James "Whispering Jim" Dickson FAG ID 115226507 as indicated through their personal DNA testing.

Since we know Rachel was a slave as indicated on the 1850 Missouri Slave Census - It is possible that this individual is her father through a non-consensual relationship between James Dickson and her mother. We have no documentation to confirm or deny this. However, with the DNA results it is considered a likely possibility.

If true the children indicated on his memorial, could be assumed to be Rachel's siblings as connected through James Dickson, although we do not have documentation for this.

We STRONGLY recommend that you perform your own research to confirm or deny the parental link to James Dickson.
