William "Houston" Roper, 87, husband of Bernice Miller Roper, passed away July 11, 2015.

A lifelong resident of Powdersville, he was the son of the late George W. and Essie Williams Roper. His precious daughter, Cindy, was waiting for him at Heaven's Gates.

Houston retired as Used Car Manager at Crane Chevrolet in Easley, SC. He previously owned and operated the Powdersville Superette, and was a cattle farmer. He was also a Naval veteran during World War II.

Houston was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Powdersville, where he served as Trustee and on the Board of Stewards. He was also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Forever Young and Leisure Groups, as well as the Wren Ruritan Club, where he served as Treasurer, and the Mountain Springs Masonic Lodge in Piedmont, SC.

Gifted with a warm and outgoing personality, Houston never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He had a wonderful and mischievous sense of humor. There was nothing more important than his family, and the joy of his life was all his grandchildren.
