Family members include locations in Rutherford and Polk County, North Carolina, Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Franklin and Madison County, GA, West Virginia and Summit County, Ohio.
In 2013 I recived a personal photo request from a a woman who said she had a coworker that was unable to attend her brothers funeral and desperately wanted to see a photo of his headstone. It was at a church on Johns Island South Carolina - Hebron Zion Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Sometime later my husband and I were going to an event on Johns Island so I mentioned that if it ended before dark I wanted to find this grave. At the time there were only a handful of memorials posted so I was thinking very small. First it took a while to find it because a new church has been built without a cemetery. We looked around in amazement and he started at one end with out phones and I the other end. 147 graves/headstones later we headed home. Took me days to try and research the individuals and upload the information and photos. That was my first experience and I now know to photograph the headstones on each side of the memorial.
I am currently documenting through reasearch 2 cemeteries in Oxford, Granville County, North Carolina (Harrisburg and Plummer Cheatham). For some reason I felt compelled to do so even though I do not know anyone buried there and have never been to this town.
My goal is not to add memorials, but to connect the memorials of those posted by individuals obsessed with adding thousands to their lists. I try to find their obituary or any family information. I have received thank you notes from so many because of suggestions and info sent. They keep me motivated.
I believe deceased loved ones and their past history is important. With that said, I believe it is important to substantiate records and there will be times I will provide a Death Certificate photo on memorials for documentation.
I do often go down the "rabbit hole" trying to connect a family in a far away place. -:)
