The following is a transcription of a deed of sale between James Little and the trustees of Lamotte Baptist Church (Crawford County, IL)

March 18,1828
This Indenture made on the eighteenth day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and twenty eight between James Little and Susanna his wife of the state of Illinois and county of Crawford of the first part and Thomas Kennedy Senr. William Ryan and William Hix Senr. Trustees of Lamott Baptist church of the same place of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said James for and in consideration of the sum of fifty cents to him in hand paid by the said Trustees, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents doth bargain, sell convey and confirm, unto the said trustees and their successors in office for the use and benefit of the said Lamott Baptist church as a place of worship and burying ground, all and singular the following described Lot of Land, lying and bounded as follows (viz) Beginning at the North West Corner of Section twenty seven in Township Six North of Range eleven west from thence runing (sic) south with the Section line twelve poles to a stake, thence East Twenty poles to a stake, thence north twelve poles to a stake in the section line, thence west with the section line twenty poles to the Beginning in the district of Land sold at Vincenns and the said parties of the first part doth by these presents bind themselves their Heirs Executors and Administrators to forever warrant and defend the above described Lot of Land to the said Trustees and their successors in office for the use and benefit of the said Lamott Baptist church under the penal sum of all Damages that may arise.

In Witness whereof the said James Little with Susanna his wife, who hereby relinquishes her right of Dower, have hereunto set their hands and seals the date at first written.

State of Illinois, Crawford County to wit on the eighteen day of March eighteen hundred and twenty eight personally came James Little and Susanna his wife. the above named grantors before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and being each examined agreeable to an act in such case made and provided, acknowledged the above Deed of conveyance to be their free voluntary act and Deed for the uses and purposes therein contained. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the date at first written.

This land was adjacent to theirs and also the Seaney Cemetery. An historian for the Primative Baptist churches said this may be the site of a lost church. There is no definitive proof one was ever built on this site.
