Phyllis Joan Alwardt Butts
Phyllis Joan Butts, 75, of Kinmundy, passed away at 2:33 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Neal Funeral Home, Kinmundy, with the Rev. Mike Durre officiating. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 1, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Iola Cavalry Apostolic Church and will be received at the funeral home.
Phyllis was born Sept. 17, 1937, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Floyd and Goldie (Pickel) Pickel. She was united in marriage with Stanley Alwardt on Sept. 17, 1955, and he preceded her in death. She was then united in marriage with Frank Butts on Nov. 6, 1981, at the Edgewood Christian Church. Phyllis was employed by the Fedders Company in Effingham and was a member of Iola Cavalry Apostolic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Butts of Kinmundy; sons, Stanley Alwardt Jr. and wife, Debbie, and Sam Alwardt and wife, Pam, all of Edgewood; daughters, Kathy Kleinik and husband, Cliff, of Farina, and Robin Alwardt of Kinmundy; brother, Jack Pickel of Bryant, Ark.; sisters, Trudy Stumborg of Mosinee, Wis., Barb Greear of Semmes, Ala., Joyce Buhrman of Edgewood, and Linda Kuhlman of Effingham; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Goldie Pickel; first husband, Stanley Alwardt; brother, Robert Pickel; sister, Louise Shafroth; and grandson, Adam Alwardt.
