EDGEWOOD WOMAN, 35, IS KILLED BY TRAIN

Mrs. Florence Pickel, 35, was killed at 11:30 a.m. yesterday when her car collided with an Illinois Central streamliner passenger train near the Edgewood railroad station.
Mrs. Pickel, the mother of two married daughters and a son and four other daughters, was driving home alone after shopping for groceries when she collided with the train on a crossing.
The train, which does not stop here, dragged the car about 100 feet.

Edgewood Woman Killed as I. C. Train Hits Auto

EDGEWOOD, Ill. – A 35-year-old mother of seven children was killed here Thursday when the car she was driving was struck by an Illinois Central passenger train.
Victim of the mishap, was Mrs. Florence Pickel, wife of a section laborer.
Mrs. Pickel’s 1937 model automobile, struck by the City of New Orleans, was destroyed. The car was carried half a block.
Surviving are Mrs. Louise Schafroth of Bradley, Mrs. Barbara Greear of Edgewood, Phyllis, Jack, Joyce, Trudy, and Linda Lou Pickle, all at home.
