AGNES' OBITUARY

Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial for Agnes Bares Richard, 97, will be performed at 1:00PM on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Andre’ Metrejean officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum.

The family requests visitation from 8:30AM Wednesday December 20,2017 until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00AM

A native of Erath, Mrs. Richard died, Friday, December 15, 2017, at Eastridge Assisted Living. She was an educator for twenty nine years a graduate of Southwest Louisiana Institute, who taught school at the LeBlanc School and Erath Elementary. A member of the Catholic Daughters, the Ladies Altar Society, the LeBlanc Community French Rosary Group, an Honorary member of the Demi Tasse Club and former member of The Council on Aging and Vermillion Homemakers Association. She was a master gardener, who loved sewing, playing cards and traveling.

She is survived by her son, Luther J. Richard and his fiancé Mary Ann Pelous of Erath; two daughters, Harriet R. Nunez and her husband Scotty and Carla R. Bourgeois and her husband Perry; son-in-law, Terry Broussard of Erath; a brother, Emery Bares of Baton Rouge; twelve grandchildren, Clayton Richard, Todd Broussard, Angela LeBlanc, Neil Broussard, Christine B. Rogers, Christopher Broussard, Scott Nunez, Lori LeBlanc, Sara Duplichain, Chad Bourgeois, Chas Bourgeois, Mark Nunez; twenty great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland J. Richard; her parents, John and Oneida LeBlanc Bares; a daughter, Sandra Broussard; three brothers, Eno Bares, Emmett Bares, Allen Ray Bares; a grandson, Kent David Nunez; a great- granddaughter Jena Nicole Richard, and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Todd Broussard, Clayton Richard, Scott Nunez, Chad Bourgeois, Chas Bourgeois and Mark Nunez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Broussard, Neil Broussard, Will LeBlanc Kane Duplichain and Milton LeBlanc.

Special thanks to her longtime physician, Dr. John Thibodeaux and staff; all of the special sitters over the years and to the staff of Eastridge Living Center; and the staff of Acadiana Hospice.
